Preparing Your Dumpster

1. Lock and Latch Dumpster Door

To prepare for the pick-up of your dumpster, make sure the door is locked and latched. This is a necessary safety precaution to keep our drivers and your property safe from injury or damage.

2. Make Sure Debris Is Below Rim

When preparing your dumpster for pick-up, make sure there is no debris sticking out above the rim. If the dumpster is overfilled, we may not be able to pick up the dumpster, as it is a safety hazard to our drivers and others on the road.

If we come to pick up your dumpster and it is filled above the rim, we will have to charge a trip fee for the travel to your location.

3. Keep Area Clear and Accessible

On the day of the dumpster's scheduled pick up, make sure the surrounding area is clear and accessible for our drivers to on-load the dumpster. They will need the same amount of clearance space they needed during dumpster drop-off (60 feet in front, 23 feet above, 10.5 feet side-to-side) to pick up the dumpster.

Remove all obstructions from the surrounding area, such as cars, trash bins, or anything else that may get in the way of the drivers.

4. Avoid Going Above The Weight Limit

When filling up your dumpster, try to ensure you are not going above your purchased weight limit. You will have to estimate the weight of your waste to do so, so try to stay reasonable when loading your roll-off container. If your dumpster does weigh in above the purchased limit, you will be charged an overage fee from the dumping facility that will be reflected in your invoice.

5. Double-Check for Prohibited Items

Before your dumpster is picked up and serviced, check to make sure there are no prohibited items in the dumpster. Items such as paint, fuel, medical waste, and any other prohibited items should never be placed in a dumpster. For a full list of what is and what is not allowed in a dumpster, look at our prohibited items guide.

If you do mix prohibited items into your dumpster, you will be charged a contamination fee by the dumping facility, which will be reflected in your invoice.

Additionally, make sure to only put the debris type that is allowed in your dumpster. For example, if you ordered a concrete dumpster, do not mix in organic waste or any other type of debris.
